AFMC successfully executes $66 billion portfolio in FY19

The Air Force Materiel Command executed a more than $66.6 billion portfolio in Fiscal Year 2019, ensuring the delivery and sustainment of agile, cost-effective and war-winning capabilities to the warfighter. AFMC manages 34% of the Air Force overall budget, executing funds across six centers, multiple platforms and Air Force installations, with missions ranging from installation support and readiness to research and development, sustainment, technology acquisition and more, ensuring the service’s warfighting advantage across all mission domains.

AFMC hosts command chief orientation

Air Force Materiel Command held its first AFMC Command Chief Orientation, Sep. 30-Oct. 1 to familiarize new wing and center command chiefs with the overall organizational mission and how their units fit into the bigger picture. The event provided the new enlisted leaders a greater understanding of the wide range of AFMC missions and offered a broader perspective on the issues that impact Airmen, setting them up for success as they lead the next-generation of Airmen in the organization.

Facilities, IT top themes in AFMC We Need study

Facility quality and information technology infrastructure topped the list of concerns identified through the Air Force Materiel Command’s AFMC We Need initiative, now in the survey analysis and implementation stage. The command-wide study launched by Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr. shortly after he took command in May, aims to identify ways to best posture the command to meet the demands of the National Defense Strategy and the Air Force of the future.

Bunch addresses questions, concerns at inaugural online town hall

Resiliency, facilities and workforce retention were among the topics addressed by Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr. during his inaugural command-wide virtual town hall, Aug. 8. The town hall, streamed live on the Air Force Materiel Command Facebook page, provided an opportunity for the commander to reach the large, geographically dispersed AFMC workforce and address topics of interest and concern.

Initiative draws large feedback, widespread support

The Air Force Materiel Command’s AFMC We Need initiative continues to make steady progress, with project teams completing phase two visits to AFMC operating locations this week. The initiative aims to identify both the areas in which the command excels as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvement across the mission footprint. Command-wide survey and interview findings will be analyzed to create a series of recommendations for AFMC leadership review and potential action at the conclusion of the study.

AFMC We Need team to conduct focus groups across enterprise

The Air Force Materiel Command’s AFMC We Need team will travel to operating locations across the command footprint to conduct in-person focus groups beginning July 22. The AFMC We Need enterprise-wide initiative, launched in late June, seeks inputs and recommendations from AFMC civilian and military Airmen that can help posture the command to best support the National Defense Strategy today and in the decades to come.
