NEW YEAR, NEW YOU

“This is the year I’m going to get into shape!”

“I’m finally going to lose x number of pounds.”

We’ve all heard or said this before. We set some unrealistic or unsustainable goals of cutting out all sugar, soda, carbs, fat, alcohol, etc., or buy some expensive gym membership or exercise equipment. If we’re lucky we stick to it for a month or two, but most likely we gradually lose the motivation and zeal. Life gets in the way and we fall back into our previous habits that got us to where we are in the first place.

Sound familiar? The specifics may be slightly different for each person, but as dietitians and trainers, we see this scenario a lot, especially at the beginning of a new year. But don’t fret, Health Promotions can help.

EVERYONE WANTS TO BE HEALTHIER

We truly believe that everyone wants to be healthier. No matter where you are in your health journey, whether a peak athlete, an overweight couch potato or somewhere in the middle, there are always things we can do to improve our current situation. So here is our call to each of these groups:

To the athlete who lives and breathes nutrition and fitness; there’s still more to learn!

Come check out some of the nutrition classes below or come to the Performance Nutrition class and get a free Inbody assessment. It measures body fat, lean muscle mass and basal metabolic calorie rate, and it breaks it down for each body segment so you can track your fitness progress.

To the person in the middle, who is trying to make diet and lifestyle changes but maybe struggles with consistency or reaching their goal; come get knowledge and support!

The amount of nutrition information out for the public is amazing but can be overwhelming at times, especially with fad diets and supplements promising quick and easy results. True health isn’t easy; it does take work, but it’s absolutely worth it. Come take the Performance Nutrition class to get the foundations of a healthy diet, get the Inbody to help track progress, and then join us for a weekly nutrition series that will provide a lot of sub-topics that can help you remain consistent with your journey.

To the person not interested in making any changes at this time, we are here to support when you’re interested.

We have found that most people in this group are here because they either tried and failed, or they’re overwhelmed by what changes they think they have to make and, therefore, don’t make any. To those people, our overarching theme in all classes is to make small and steady changes, not overhaul everything and take away the things you love. We consider it a huge success to see someone cut down their soda intake from 6 cans a day to 4. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to want to be better.
