ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – Participants begin their trek at the annual Air Force Families Forever & Gold Star Family 5K run at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, April 18, 2022. The phrase “Gold Star Family” dates back to World War I, during which time military families would display service flags featuring a gold star for every immediate family member lost in the war.
