World War II remembered

William Thames, whose name is pronounced like the river in England, joined the Navy in 1944. His unit, the 37th Special Construction Battalion, was sent to California by train. For what seemed like an eternity, Thames outfitted ships with white pine board. Thames, now 88, married Doris Youngblood and the pair have been married for 63 years.
