Firing Range

Col. Debra Bean, 78th Air Base Wing vice commander uses an M-9mm Barretta to fire the first shot at the official opening April 15 of the 78th 25meter fully contained range. The range underwent a $4.7 million upgrade. It has increased the firing points from 13 to 24 Shooters. Students are able to move from different distances while the targets remain at a fixed location. Fixed targets eliminate the need for the shooters to cross the firing line, thus eliminating a safety concern. The range also received a $250,000 upgrade to its bullet containment trap, making it an environmentally friendly firing range.
