Commissary
Shoppers stood outside with their carts ready for the opening of the new $16 million Robins Commissary facility May 28. Maj. Gen. Polly Peyer, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center commander, and Philip E. Sakowitz, Jr, Defense Commissary Agency director and CEO spoke and helped cut the ribbon. Patrons were treated to cake, numerous free food samples, meeting product mascots, a singer to entertain while shopping, and opportunities to register for prize drawings such as a $250 shopping spree, 42” television, XBox, Game Boy and a bicycle. By 10:00, store officials estimated around 1000 shoppers in the store. U. S. Air Force photo by Sue Sapp
