Base technicians keep a weather radar ready to track a storm

Housed under the white fiberglass dome is the Doppler radar that scans and tracks storms in the Middle Georgia area. This is one of many radars the National Weather Service uses to provide an accurate picture of the weather systems in the area. The next time you see the television weather report or look online, chances are this is the radar that provides the picture of the storm systems. Robins Air Force Base maintains this Doppler radar located near Jeffersonville, Ga. (U.S. Air Force photo by Roland Leach)
