The mission of the School Liaison is to eliminate barriers and build bridges for the academic success of military connected children through networks and partnerships with local communities. Robins AFB is located within the Houston County School District where over 90% of Robins’ military children attend school. Our surrounding school districts are Bibb County and Peach County. We have an excellent relationship with the local school districts and our community.
Georgia House Bill 224 (HB 224) allows military families who live on base (Robins II) the option to request a school transfer to any school within the district. Approval is based on space availability. Please refer to the HB 224 guidelines at: https://www.hcbe.net/hb224
Students who do not live on base are required to attend the school zone in which they reside. Inbound families are encouraged to contact the School Liaison upon receiving orders to discuss zoning.
The School Liaison is the point of contact between the military installation, school administration, parents and the community as a whole. Primary responsibilities include advising the military command on matters concerning student education and school operations, fostering a responsive and cooperative relationship between local school districts and the military community, and assisting military families with education matters that are unique to the military lifestyle such as school transitions, frequent moves, deployment, and education inconsistencies that exist from state-to-state.
The commitment of Robins AFB to our local schools is very strong, and we ask for your help in growing our partnerships. We encourage parents and our Team Robins members to take an active role in volunteering in our local schools. Units interested in Adopt-A-School programs should contact the School Liaison.
School Liaison Responsibilities
The School Liaison Office at each military installation is the point-of-contact for local military child education matters. This POC advocates for the educational needs of military connected children, assists military members and families with information and referrals regarding local school districts and other education options, and ensures a communication link with inbound or outbound family members for educational issues. A worldwide listing of School Liaisons can be found under references and guides at https://www.dodea.edu/Partnership.
