16th ACCS 27-year history comes to a close at Robins
The first RF-4Cs (s/n 64-1054) deployed to Southeast Asia with the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron - fall of 1965. The 16 TRS was assigned to the 460 TRW at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, Vietnam. The RF-4C 64-1054 was lost after being hit by ground fire on Aug. 19/20, 1966. 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. The 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron McDonnell Douglas flew RF-4 Phantom II from 1965 – 1989
