The Robins Diversity Council will conduct events throughout August to raise awareness for Diversity Month.

The council is comprised of committees dedicated to hosting events specific to their holiday or awareness month. They include: Women's History Month; Black History Month; Pride Month; Native American Heritage Month; Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month; and Hispanic Heritage Month.

To kick off the observance, Aug. 7, there will be a 5K Diversity Color Fun Run and Walk at the 5K Fitness Trail at 8 a.m.

A diversity panel will field questions Aug. 14 at the Heritage Club Ballroom, and Women's Equality Day, Aug. 26, is also on the agenda. The final event is a diversity luncheon at 11 a.m. Aug. 28, at the Heritage Club Ballroom. At the luncheon, each of the six groups will give presentations.

The motto for the group is "Celebrating Diversity with Dignity and Respect for All."

The council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the Heritage Club Bingo Room.
