Throwback Thursday - June 23, 2022

On June 25, 1950, North Korean (The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) military forces crossed the 38th parallel and invaded South Korea (Republic of Korea), which precipitated the Korean War. In response, the next day, the WRAMA began reclamation of all “Cocooned” B‑29 aircraft mothballed on Robins AFB. The B-29s stationed in Europe began transferring to bases in Japan. To back fill these aircraft the WRAMA workforce began servicing nearly 400 bombers on base. By May 5, a production line for the repair of B-29 aircraft began in WRAMA’s Directorate of Maintenance.
