DRIVING
Newcomers who arrive in their vehicles will more than likely be traveling on Interstate 75. Take exit 146 to the Georgia Highway 247 Connector (also called Watson Blvd.). The road will take you directly to the base, about 10 miles away from the exit. You can also exit coming from the north at exit 160A and take Highway 247 about 15 miles south to the base.

Military members entering at the Visitor's Center at Gate 3, which is open 24 hours a day, should report directly to the orderly room of the organization they are assigned.

The orderly room will contact the Military Personnel Flight to schedule an appointment for in-processing. If there are any questions about where to report upon arrival, military members will be directed to the Military Personnel Flight's customer service office in Building 767. After hours, members will be directed to the 24-hour arrival point, the billeting office in Building 557.

Privately Owned Firearms

• All personnel, including non-military affiliated personnel residing in government and privatized housing, dormitories, all visiting quarters, and the Family Camp, must register privately owned firearms with the 78th Security Forces Squadron Armory located at building 988. For more information, call DSN 468-2025 or commercial 478-926-2025.

Open Carry Privately Owned Firearms

• Not authorized on Robins Air Force Base.

Concealed Carry of Privately Owned Firearms

• Military and DoD employees in possession of a Robins AFB Concealed Carry Card are authorized to conceal carry privately owned firearms to and from Robins AFB privatized housing and installation gates. For information on the Robins AFB Concealed Carry Card approval process, call 478-926-2518.

Transportation of Privately Owned Firearms

• Personnel who are not transporting firearms to privatized housing or the base range will proceed directly from the base entry point to the 78th Security Forces Squadron Armory located in building 988 for temporary or permanent storage of their privately owned firearms. 
• Privately owned firearms will not be present in any vehicle on Robins AFB unless the weapon is being moved to or from approved storage or to an on-base recreational area, such as the Robins AFB skeet range and authorized hunting areas.

Cell phone use is prohibited while driving without a proper hands-free device.

Seat belt use is mandatory for drivers and all passengers once entering the base gates.

The speed limit on Robins AFB ranges from 10 - 35 mph. Base security forces are responsible for enforcing speed limits and all other traffic laws.

The speed limit at base housing is 15 mph. Speeding in base housing 6 mph or higher will result in the following: 

• First offense results in a 30-day suspension.
• Second offense within one year results in a 6-month suspension.
• Third offense within one year results in a 1-year suspension.

All state and local driving laws are applicable on base.
