Throwback Thursday - Aug. 4, 2022
On Aug. 1, 1960, the first B-52 aircraft attached to the 4137th Strategic Wing arrived at Robins. This official assignment had been announced June 21, 1957. The last B‑52 assigned to a unit at Robins AFB, the 19th Bomb Wing, departed Oct. 6, 1983. Several of these bombers had participated in Linebacker I and II during the Vietnam War. Most were on alert status as part of the Strategic Air Command Single Integrated Operational Plan mission.
