Throwback Thursday - Oct. 14, 2021
On Oct. 9, 2019, the statue of 2nd Lt. Eugene Bullard was unveiled at the Museum of Aviation. Bullard, originally from Columbus, Georgia, became the first Black fighter pilot. He joined the French Air Service and fought in both World Wars. Bullard was known by Germans as the “Black Swallow of Death.” He was posthumously commissioned into the U.S. Air Force by President Bill Clinton in 1994.
