Crew chief relives heyday with F-4
Don Otting, a former F-4 Phantom II crew chief during the Vietnam War, poses next to the exact aircraft he was once charged with maintaining. The aircraft is on display in the Museum of Aviation, and there is a photo of Otting painting a star on it. The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor aircraft/fighter-bomber originally developed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft.
