The Museum of Aviation is temporarily closed.

The Department of Defense has ordered military museums - including all 13 in the Air Force - to close because museum operations do not support functions directly related to on-going military operations or the safety and security of life and property.

Officials are currently determining if any previously-scheduled events and activities at the museum should be cancelled.

The MOA attracts more than 450,000 visitors per year.

"While we are not able to open to the public, we will continue our mission through the planning, restoration and development of future exhibits and programs to tell the rich story of the United States Air Force," said Ken Emery, museum director.
