Robins Air Force Base will get some time in the spotlight during the upcoming 2014 C-SPAN Cities Tour Series.

The network has chosen Macon as one of 24 communities to visit on the tour and an unfolding story here at Robins will be featured as well.

The footage, which was shot at the Museum of Aviation Wednesday, highlights MOA volunteers and the restoration work they do to bring aircraft back to life.

One example is the work they're doing with retired Maj. Gen. Rick Goddard - the former Warner Robins Air Logistics Center commander from November 1997 to February 2000 - to restore an F-100 fighter plane.

The single-engine fighter plane with many corroded structural parts and missing pieces is the same aircraft Goddard flew in Vietnam some 45 years ago.

This and other stories gathered by the video crews will air on non-fiction book channel Book TV (on C-SPAN2, Cox Communications channel 81) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3, Cox Communications channel 82) during C-SPAN's special Macon weekend Feb. 15 and 16.
