Military records to go online Published Feb. 2, 2007 By Holly Birchfield 78 ABW/PA ROBINS AFB, Ga. -- The Air Force is eliminating the base-level repository for personnel records and today is the last day for military members at Robins to have access to their personnel records. The Military Personnel Flight will ship military records Monday to Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Records being sent include awards, decorations, enlisted and officer performance reports, and other such documents. The documents will be transferred to an Automated Records Management System and will be kept in the Virtual Military Personnel Flight system at AFPC. Maj. Devin Statham, 78th Mission Support Squadron commander, said the transfer is expected to be complete by Feb. 28 and will give MPF customers the convenience of accessing records without having to leave their desks. "Right now, the MPF is in the process of auditing and manually reviewing all of our enlisted and officer records, and we're due to ship them to AFPC (Monday)," he said. Major Statham said while people won't be able to access their records here during that window of time, the end result is a better approach to managing the records in the long run. Before, military members had to visit the MPF to copy records. Soon, unit commanders and CSS personnel will be able to log into an ARMS and print personnel documents.Major Statham said military members will use the same user ID and password used to access their virtual emergency data. They may also use their Common Access Cards to access the virtual system. If an MPF needs a specific document after the records have been received by the AFPC, a copy of the requested document will be faxed. If an MPF needs the entire record, the AFMC will pull the requested records and give it a high priority in the ARMS processing. Once the records are converted, the MPF will be notified by email. The only documents that will be available through the Robins MPF during the transition are the Service Members Government Life Insurance Election Certificates and the Record of Performance for officers. For more information, contact MPF customer service at 327-7362.
