The officers' and enlisted clubs at Robins recently received several improvements, including a new menu at the officers' club. But the biggest change made was christening both clubs with new names.

The 78th Services Division began the renaming process in June 2007. That process ended Feb. 1, as officials unveiled new names for the clubs in separate ceremonies. The officers' club received the name Horizons, while the enlisted club is now the Heritage Club.

Colonel Warren Berry, 78th Air Base Wing commander, helped unveil the new name of the enlisted club.

"While we are naming a building, we are actually honoring you and all Airmen, past and future, who have and who will cross this threshold," Colonel Berry told Airmen at the ceremony. "It is you who have written and continue to write the history that is our proud heritage in the United States Air Force. This is a great day and I am thrilled to be a part of it."

Maj. Gen. Tom Owen, commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, helped unveil Horizons as the name of the officers' club. He said the names of the two clubs really complement and support each other.

"Last year the Air Force celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Air Force chose a very appropriate name for that year-long celebration - Heritage to Horizons. We respect that heritage from which we came, and yet look forward to the future, the horizon. So we have chosen fitting names for our two clubs," General Owen said.

In a base-wide contest, Capt. Jason Huffman, 78th Operations Support Squadron, submitted the name 'Heritage Club', while Joyce Roberson, 402nd Mainten-ance Wing, submitted 'Horizons.' Both won weekend getaways to Atlanta.
