AFMS to close 78th MDG Internal Medicine Clinic Published Feb. 4, 2011 By 78th Medical Group ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The Air Force Medical Service has decided to close the Internal Medicine Clinic at Robins. In preparation, the 78th Medical Group is working closely with its Managed Care Service Contract provider, Humana, to transfer internal medicine patients to a robust network of local internal medicine physicians to help beneficiaries who have intricate medical issues. "Internal medicine is extremely complex," said Lt. Col. Duane Bragg, 78th Medical Support Squadron commander. "Qualified internal medicine physicians require extensive training and years of experience to effectively manage this portion of the patient population, and maintaining an acceptable level of care here was proving to be a very difficult challenge." Bragg said the clinic's goal is to ensure internal medicine patients are provided the best healthcare possible - the "Right Care" at the "Right Place." All internal medicine patients have been provided a letter with instructions on how to transfer their enrollment to a network provider. In addition, The 78th MDG will conduct town hall meetings to answer patients' questions about the clinic's closing. The town hall meetings will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Base Theater. Individuals with questions about transferring to a Humana provider can also contact Karen Cody at 497-8338 or visit the TRICARE Service Center.
