DBIDS goes live in July Published April 15, 2011 By Wayne Crenshaw 78 ABW/PA ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Time is running out for those who haven't registered in DBIDS, or the Defense Biometric Identification System. Those not registered by July 31 could soon find themselves turned away at the gates, and sent to immediately register at the Visitors' Center. An estimated 70,000-plus people - including family members, retirees and others - have identification cards which allow them to enter Robins. To date, about 43,000 people have taken the five minutes to register, which involves simply visiting one of six registration sites and providing an electronic fingerprint. Staff Sgt. Crystal Kesey, 78th Security Forces DBIDS program manager, said those still needing to register can avoid the last-minute rush by registering now. While the base had scheduled people for registration based on the first letter of their last name, those needing to register can now do so at any time, Kesey added. For more information, call Kesey at 926-4208 (from off base) or 468-4208 (from on base) or Senior Airman Jeffrey Kelly at 222-1969 (from off base) or 472-1969 (from on base).
