Fifteen Robins commuters have been recognized as "champions" for their efforts in improving the area's air quality.

The Clean Air Commuter Champions program recognizes those who help reduce pollution by carpooling, vanpooling, riding transit, taking the BiRD shuttle or working a compressed work week. Combined, the Robins commuters eliminated more than 22,600 commute trips by using alternatives to driving alone.

The initiative is sponsored by the Clean Air Campaign - a not-for-profit organization that works with Georgia's employers, commuters and schools to encourage actions that result in less traffic congestion and better air quality.

Robins is a partner with the Clean Air Campaign, which operates the website www.logyourcommute.org to help commuters find carpooling partners
