Robins officials to begin issuing furlough notices Tuesday Published May 23, 2013 By Staff Reports Robins Public Affairs ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The base will start issuing administrative furlough notifications Tuesday to most of its civilian employees. Federal employees are given at least 30 days notice before they are furloughed. Base officials are still determining how the furloughs will be implemented. The Department of Defense has directed that civilian employees be furloughed for up to 11 days, or roughly one day a week, between July and September. Affected employees will see their salaries decrease by about 20 percent during the furlough period. The decision to furlough civilians is the result of sequestration, which triggered roughly $46 billion in automatic defense budget cuts for fiscal 2013
