The 19th Air Refueling Group mission ended at Robins May 28, 2008. The Black Knights were in service at Robins for 40 years up until that point, having moved to Robins in 1968. Flying the KC-135R, the group was responsible for rapidly deploying air refueling and airlift capability worldwide as part of the Air Mobility Command, along with providing field level inspections and maintenance on command aircraft while they underwent depot repairs at the WR-ALC. The group moved on from Robins to be redesignated as the 19th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas.
