Installation Policy on the Use of Face Coverings

1. As we complete Return to Full Capacity (RtFC), and as we normalize for the long COVID 19 road before us, our mask and distancing behaviors must be unwavering to ensure the safety and health of our workforce, as well as the entire community. These behaviors and those they protect will remain a primary safety and welfare priority for the months ahead.

2. In accordance with CSAF OPORD 20-01, Resetting the Force During COVID-19, dated 12 June 2020, when physical distancing of at least six feet is not feasible, wear of a face covering is required for all persons present on Robins Air Force Base. As a rule, feasibility means you are able to predict and control the interactions you have with others on the installation, or mitigations exist such as a barrier between cubicles. To the extent you are not able to predict or control the interactions you have or may have with others (e.g., in a common hallway, in a restroom, in an elevator, etc.), you must wear a face covering. When in doubt, wear a face covering. If masks are further neglected, the next step will be to add “entering and exiting any facility and until the circle of safety when continuous 6 feet social distancing is attained”. Mission partners may have more restrictive measures such as this already, so look for signage at entry and exit of all facilities.

3. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Studies and evidence on infection control report that these droplets usually travel around 6 feet (about two arms lengths). Wearing a face covering may prevent you from spreading the virus to others, just as others wearing a face covering may prevent them from spreading the virus to you.

4. I expect everyone present on the installation to help ensure strict adherence to this policy and to hold each other accountable (i.e., remind those to wear their face covering when appropriate or necessary). Your health and the health of those around you depend on it.

5. This policy, which is effective immediately and will remain in effect until rescinded, does not apply to family members within the same household (to include billeting and TLF); children under the age of two; anyone who has trouble breathing; or anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance. Refusal to comply with this policy may result in temporary restrictions from the installation.

6. Information on face coverings, to include proper design, material, and wear, can be found on the CDC website (www.cdc.gov). Please direct any questions to Public Health at MSgt James Baker, DSN 497-8019, james.a.baker252.mil@mail.mil.
