Firing RangeFiring Range
Firing Range

Col. Debra Bean, 78th Air Base Wing vice commander uses an M-9mm Barretta to fire the first shot at the official opening April 15 of the 78th 25meter fully contained range. The range underwent a $4.7 million upgrade. It has increased the firing points from 13 to 24 Shooters. Students are able to move from different distances while the targets remain at a fixed location. Fixed targets eliminate the need for the shooters to cross the firing line, thus eliminating a safety concern. The range also received a $250,000 upgrade to its bullet containment trap, making it an environmentally friendly firing range. Along with the elimination of firing lead rounds, the new filtration system aides in making RAFB an environmentally friendly base. U. S. Air Force photo by Sue Sapp
