7/6/2012 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Two Team Robins members are recipients of 2012 Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Outstanding Scientist/Engineer awards.

They are 1st Lt. Daniel Welsh, Military-Junior category; and Walter Crook, Civilian-Mid-Career category.

Welsh, an AC/EC-130 structural engineer in the Aerospace Sustainment Directorate's Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery Division, entered active duty in September 2008. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he is an engineer for non-standard structural repair and modification efforts of 25 AC-130 and seven EC-130J aircraft. He also augments the cadre of aircraft battle damage repair engineers who are trained for no-notice worldwide deployments.

Crook is the 402nd Aircraft Maintenance Wing's MRSP (Maintenance Requirements Supportability Process) engineering support chief. A graduate of Mercer University, he is responsible for tactical and operational support of C-130 aircraft at Robins for scheduled/unscheduled depot level maintenance and modifications.

Winners were announced by Dr. Mark Maybury, chief scientist of the Air Force, and Dr. Steven Walker, deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for Science, Technology and Engineering.
The awards banquet will be conducted Aug. 23 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Guest speaker will be Michael Wynne, former Secretary of the Air Force.
