More than two dozen firefighters from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department and Robins Air Force Base Fire Emergency Services participated in an aircraft live fire training this week.

Training was conducted on Dec. 16, 18 and 20.

The setting of the joint training consisted of a simulated large frame aircraft crash which was totally engulfed in fire, requiring resources from both departments to mitigate the emergency, according to Schoonover.

Both departments have a common requirement for training of this type due to the airfield mission each organization shares.

This training opportunity affords each department the opportunity to continue grooming the professional relationship that has developed over the years, and assists with gaining insight and understanding of each other's resources and capabilities.
