Job well done: Safety, Health Team lauded for lasting safety solutions Published Feb. 17, 2012 By Jenny Gordon 78th Air Base Wing Public Affairs ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Members of the Robins Workplace Safety and Health Team were presented the Air Force Civilian Achievement Award Feb. 10 in recognition of distinguished performance from March to November 2011. The team, which first met March 2, provided critical leadership to the center's efforts to identify and implement solutions to become compliant with OSHA regulations. By creating sustainable solutions to non-compliant areas and creating standard processes and procedures, the team developed controls and solutions to environmental safety and occupational health issues across 14 defined focus areas. A total of 39 outstanding citations were eliminated. "As a civilian employee I am very grateful to have worked with such a great group of people. It has been an honor to work on this team and represent our workforce on matters from the employees' point of view," said Ray Fisher, member of Local 987 American Federation of Government Employees. "I am really appreciative to Mr. Tom Scott, Local 987 president, for entrusting us with this task, and Maj. Gen. Robert McMahon, for having the courage to address this difficult issue head on, and to put together a team to combat our issues at hand. And last but not least, a very special thank you to Jay Fiebig and Scott Edge for taking the time to view these issues from not only the employees' view, but also within the master labor agreement."
