Lt. Col. Melinda Screws, 78th Medical Group, is the winner of the 2012 Chief of the Medical Staff Commitment to Excellence Award.

The winners of the Air Force Medical Service annual award competition were announced Feb. 5 by the Air Force Surgeon General's Medical Force Development Directorate.

"This award is truly a reflection of the outstanding people I work with and their commitment to excellence," said Screws. "It also speaks to the quality of leadership and mentorship I've been afforded in my career."

The competition included individual and team awards from a cross-section of Air Force medical fields.

Accomplishments include patient care in forward-deployed locations, research and teaching, improvement of home station care, and oversight of the medical Personnel Reliability Program.
