Throwback Thursday - May 5, 2022
The 53rd Air Traffic Control Squadron, with the 461st Air Control Wing under Air Combat Command, received its current day redesignation during a ceremony May 1, 2015. The redesignation was seen as the final action needed to align the squadron with its mission and purpose of providing mobile air traffic control support, radar maintenance and airfield maintenance. Prior to that, the 53rd ATCS was known as the 53rd Combat Communications Squadron, which was aligned under the 5th Combat Communications Group with Air Force Space Command.
